I think Muskegon State Park should be higher on the list. That place has the
best camping and location, in my opinion.

I find it hard to research campgrounds on the internet. Reviews are based on
idividuals opinions and no real criteria. I find that different people have
very different ideas about what makes for good camping. I would like to see
individual criteria such as: how private are the campsites? How scenic is the
campground? Does the reviewer tent camp or RV?
I agree that Ludington deserves
the top spot. I haven't been to all the State forest campgrounds so I can't
speak for them, but I think Tahquamenon should be higher on the list. I don't
agree that Muskegon should be higher on the list. Most of it's campsites are
not ideal in my book, although I'm sure there is plenty to do in the park.

All lists like this are subjective, so I agree that it's hard to differentiate,
due to personal preference. Your idea to do a more rigorous comparison is fair
and could be the basis of a good book on Michigan campsites.
